The Canaanites (Genesis 12:6). They were descendants of Ham (Genesis ch.10). There were also some Semites, distant cousins of Abraham. According to tradition, Malki Tzedek (named in Genesis 14) and Tamar (named in Genesis 38) are examples of this latter group.
