Jesus instructed His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem before beginning their ministry. The ten days between His ascension and Pentecost may have been a period of preparation and spiritual growth for the disciples, helping them to be receptive and empowered when the Holy Spirit came.

wel done. he waited 10 days. want a sticker bruv? lol your not getting one. fooled ya. haha im cool. wow. '''ANSWER:''' Many times the timing of God stump us. But in this case it is clear that Jesus wanted a large audience when the Spirit was given. In this case it was the Day of Pentecost. The Day of Pentecost was one of three feast days that all Jewish Men were required to be in Jerusalem. Jesus knew what would happen when the disciples received the Holy Spirit (actually filled with the Spirit) and He wanted a lot of people there when it happened. What happened? The disciples were led by the Spirit and spoken in all the languages that were represented there from men all over the known world. Peter got up and preached a fantastic message and many, many persons heard it. Many people were saved (come to Jesus Christ) that day. When the feast days were over and the Jewish men who lived elsewhere went home they in turn were witness to Jesus Christ as being the Messiah and I am sure many people were brought to Jesus from that also. Jesus ascended on the 40th day after Passover, ten days later was the Day of Pentecost.

It is often overlooked that Luke 24:51 tells us that Jesus was taken up into heaven on the evening of the day of his resurrection. The more well-known account is in Acts 3:9, where he was taken up into heaven forty days after his resurrection.

In Luke's Gospel, the author sought a quick and tidy ending that explained why Jesus was no longer seen on earth. The same author wrote Acts of the Apostles, obviously after having read Paul's epistles. He realised that Paul spoke of many seeing the resurrected Jesus and knew this needed a longer time. The Jews celebrated their Pentecost fifty days after the Passover, so our author determined to have an important Christian event take place on the same day, with the Holy Spirit descending on the disciples after the final departure of Jesus. In this account, Jesus ascended to heaven after forty days, and the Holy Spirit came down ten days later.

Jesus sent the holy spirit to be the disciples' helper and guide at what event?

Pentecost, which literally means 50 or it is 50 days after the Passover and First Fruits. Jesus returned to visit his Disciples after his resurection and promised to wait for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit did not come then. Jesus disappeared in a cloud. The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples 50 days later when they were praying together in Jerusalem.

Jesus remained on the Earth for 40 days after His resurrection. He then ascended into Heaven. Ten days later, on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles and after repentence, upon those who were gathered there.

Why do you celebrate Easter for 50 days?

Ascension Thursday is 40 days after Easter because Jesus left 40 days after He resurrected, and Pentecost Sunday is 10 days after Ascension Thursday because the Holy Spirit filled Jesus' disciples 10 days after He left. (So the gift of the Holy Spirit was 50 days after the Resurrection.)

When did Jesus receive the Holy Spirit?

The gospels say that Jesus received the Holy Spirit and was adopted by God as his son, at the time of his baptism (Mark 1:9-10): "And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:"A countervailing view is in the later Christian tradition that Jesus was divine and pre-existing, and equal with the Holy Spirit as two persons of the Holy Trinity. This theological position would seem to suggest that Jesus had no need to receive the Holy Spirit.

If Jesus is not God why did he say in John 2v19 that 'he' would raise himself from the died?

God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all one. God is the head, and Jesus is His Son. Jesus was fully human, but God gave Him the power to arise from the grave in three days time. Think of it as a triangle, the Father at the top, Jesus and the Holy spirit at the sides. They are all of equal importance.

When did Jesus disciples receive the holy spirit?

What kind of Spirit leading Jesus to the desert to be tempted by the devil?

No there was no spirit that lead Jesus into the desert. He went on his own will to pray. And the devil then tempted him.In the Gospels:Matthew 4:1 - Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.Mark 1:12, 13 - Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness. And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him.Luke 4:1, 2 - Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry. The Spirit being spoken of is God's Holy Spirit.[Quotes from NKJV]

What does the words in Acts chapter 1 verse 8 mean?

Acts 1:8, " But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." The Holy Spirit was given and entered the apostles 10 days ( Day of Pentecost) after Jesus ascended. The mission of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ was first given to them, that was their ministry (To be witnesses for Jesus). The Holy Spirit empowered them to do this. A witness is a person who tells the truth about Jesus Christ. All true Christians have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them and this is their power source, and have the responsibility to continue spreading the Gospel.

When did the Apostles receive the gift of the Holy Spirit?

AnswerThe apostles received the gift of the Holy Spirit on either of two occasions, depending on which source is used: In John's Gospel at 20:22, Jesus breathed on the ten apostles (with Thomas absent) and gave them the Holy Spirit in the upper room on the evening of his resurrection. Elaine Pagels says there is a thread of anti-Thomas sentiment in this Gospel, and this is demonstrated by the omission of Thomas. In Acts of the Apostles, the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles on the day of the Pentecost, more than forty days after the resurrection of Jesus.
