Why did God close Hannah's womb?

This is an example of how God can show us what we may value more than God. In 1 Samuel we learned that Hannah really wanted a son. Now Abraham and Sarah wanted a son as well, but they tried to speed up the process by having Ishmael with Hagar the servant. Sarah wanted a son so bad that she was willing to take things in her own hands and step out of God's will. This child with Hagar caused many problems between the two women. However, in Hannah's case it was customary in the Old Testament for a man to take on another wife if the first wife could not bare children. This cause tension and problems between the two women. But I think the reason that this was included in the bible was because it shows that Hannah did the right thing as opposed to Sarah who made the wrong decision.

Some people are willing to do whatever to get whatever it is they want. But Hannah knew that things had to be done God's way. If we want God to open a door in our life, then we have to make sure the thing we want will not be placed above God. But Hannah finally prayed and said to God, if you give me a son, then I will give him back to you. Hannah just demonstrated that she was willing to give back to God the one thing she wanted most in the world. So after her prayer, God remembered her and gave her a son and Hannah followed through with her vow.

There maybe closed doors in your life, but God wants to open them for you, but not if you will value the gift more than the Giver. After Hannah sent Samuel off for training with the priest (they start them pretty young) Hannah gave birth to three more sons and two daughters.

So if there is a door that seems to be closed in your life, look to see if the door you want opened is something you care more about than your relationship with God. There are many blessings that God wants to give his children, but he can't because we are not in a position to receive them, or if we get them we will act "crazy". Meaning, we will act like God doesn't exist.

Quick true story: A man asked God to bless his business and the man will in return give a tithe of 30% of the income. So God blessed his business and the man tithed 30%. One day he went to his pastor and told the pastor about what he promised to God and how he had been blessed. However the man said that because he was tithing 30% he was giving away a LOT of money. So the pastor responded, you have only two viable choices to make. 1) Continue to pay the 30% as you said you would do if God blessed your business or 2) Ask God to decrease you business's income.

I do not know what the man chose, but I'm pretty sure he would not ask God to decrease his earnings in order to decrease the size of his 30% tithe.

Only God can open a womb, or door, or opportunity that he closed. So if you are experiencing some closed doors, instead of blaming Satan, lets look at ourselves and examine where our heart is and what we value.

Which do you love more by your actions.... the gift or the Giver?

In The Bible, it is written that God closed Hannah's womb as a test of faith and to show his power by miraculously granting her a child, Samuel. It was part of his plan to demonstrate his sovereignty and bring forth a significant figure in history.
