What is the symbol of God's promise to Noah?

The symbol of God's promise to Noah is the rainbow, as mentioned in the Bible after the Great Flood. God set the rainbow in the sky as a sign of his covenant to never again destroy the earth with a flood.

The great flood was described as?

Various descriptions and terms have been used to describe the great flood. It has been called variously, 'the Flood of Noah', 'Noah's Flood', 'The Deluge', a 'Cataclysm', or simply 'The Flood' as distinct from any particular local flood. Interestingly, the Hebrew word 'mabul' also makes this distinction in that it is a word which includes all of the above meanings, as distinct from any local flood, no matter how great and devastating.

Before Noah flood what kind of environment did the earth have?

Very different from today. It was a more stable temperature, allowing lush green plants to thrive even in today's arctic regions. It is proposed from the Bible, that there was a canopy of water which surrounded the earth. This served as keeping the temperature consistent warmed the earth more, serving as additional insulating, and blocking certain cosmic rays even more effectively than our atmosphere does today. There was no prevailing causes of disease These things accounts for why people lived so long, upwards of 900 years of age, and why following the flood and the loss of this protective water canopy, ages of people mentioned in the Bible steadily declined until they were by the time of Abraham, living approximately no longer than we do today. There wasn't even rain mentioned until the times of Noah's flood, when this water came down to earth, resulting in this flood. It sounds absurd to our modern sensibilities, but consider this. In Scientific American there was a small excerpt discussing how to send a craft into deeper space for a Mars Mission. One of the problems to overcome is how to protect the astronauts from prolonged radiation exposure, as there is a very strong radiation field between earth and Mars, or more, which the astronauts will have to pass through. There are a few options considered, none of which are considered practical for this time, due to weight. They are to have a shield of several feet thick of lead, the other is to have the craft of water surround by a shield of water to the depth of 6 feet, which is enough to block out the harmful radiation from the crew. Something to consider.

How deep was the flood in the book of Genesis?

The flood in Genesis is recorded as covering 15 cubits (around 20 feet) above the highest mountain (Genesis 7:20). It is also known that if the earth were flat (but of course remained circular as it has always been) with no mountains or hills, then water would cover the earth to a height of several miles. An underground sea under east Asia the size of the Arctic Ocean has also been discovered through seismic surveys. Thus there is also much water under the earth. It is also known that large-scale techtonic events can happen quickly as demonstrated by Dr John Baumgartner, a world-leader in the fild of plate techtonics. This could also include mountains being thrust upwards rapidly. In this regard many mountains of the world, including Everest are known to have marine fossils near their summits. Such of course can only form under water. These scientific facts suggest that there may be more to the Genesis flood in terms of fact than many would care to admit.

Where did the great flood happen?

1. Rain fell continuously for 40 days and nights. 2. The fountains of the great deep-ocean and land springs-burst forth with a continual flow of water. I am considering whether an earth-gravity change would "uncompress" esp. the deep waters...this makes for a good possibility/explanation.

According to the Bible, God believed the people on Earth were becoming evil and sinning to much. So He called Noah, one that was good, and told him to build an ark and put two animal of every species and his family on the ark. Where did all the water go in the time of Noah?

In Genesis 7 we are told that "all the fountains of the deep were broken up and the windows of heaven were opened" thus producing rain and flooding that covered the whole earth and the rain continued for 40 days and 40 nights. In Genesis 7:24 we learn that the waters continued to cover the earth for 150 days after the rain stopped. In Genesis 8 God sent a wind to pass over the whole earth thereby causing the water to evaporate (a physical law still in effect today) and suspend in the atmosphere as clouds. The water receded into the fountains of the deep from where they came and after the time stated, Noah and his family was able to walk out on dry land. All of the water that rained and flooded during this time is still here but climate change wasn't the only thing that happened to the earth after the flood. There is good evidence that all of the land mass on earth was in one piece. Sometime after the flood it was broken up into what we have today. Plate Tectonics explains, or proves, this to be a reality. Therefore the mountain ranges we have now were not as high as they are today so were God to flood the earth again (which He promised never to again-see Genesis 9) the entire earth could not be covered over with water. Finally, the rainbow is God's sign of this promise to never flood the earth again.

Biblical way of how rainbows are formed?

In the Bible, rainbows are seen as a sign of God's covenant with humanity. According to the Book of Genesis, after the Great Flood, God placed a rainbow in the sky as a symbol of his promise to never again destroy the earth with a flood. Scientifically, rainbows are formed when sunlight is refracted, reflected, and dispersed by water droplets in the atmosphere, creating the spectrum of colors we see.
