Hazrat Yusuf forgave his brothers as this was the right thing to do. Allah would not have liked him to carry spite and malice in his heart. Hazrat Yusuf knew that if he forgave them he would be happier and so would Allah also be happy. If he hadn't forgiven them then he would be carrying around a burden and would seek revenge. This is why forgiveness is encouraged in the wonderful religion of Islam.

Hazrat Yusuf's brothers were forgiven because they showed true remorse for their previous actions, accepted responsibility for their wrongdoing, and demonstrated sincere regret for their past actions. Additionally, Hazrat Yusuf recognized that their actions were part of Allah's plan for his life, leading to his forgiveness and reconciliation with his brothers.

Why does Joseph not allow Benjamin to go to Egypt for food?

It was not Joseph who didn't allow Benjamin to go to Egypt. Hazrat Joseph was already in Egypt. It was Hazrat Yaaqub (AS) who was Hazrat Joseph's and Benjamin's father who didn't allow Benjamin to go to Egypt for food. Hazrat Joseph (Yousaf) AS and Hazrat Bejamin were the real brothers from the same mother. The other ten brothers maltreated Hazrat Yousaf (AS) when he was a young child of 7 or 8 years and sold him to a carawan. The owner sold him to the Chief Minister of Egypt. Hazrat Yaaqub (Israiel) (AS) was reluctant to send Hazrat Benjamin to Egypt for food because he didn't trust his elder sons. Ref: Al-Quraan. Sura 12. Sura Yousaf.
