Here are some facts about how I take care of mine:
I only have a heat rock, and he lives on my ferret cage next to a window.
He gets down everyday to eat next to the cats, he uses the litter box, he hugs all of us, and puts his nose under our chins.
Not saying when we brought him home from the pet store as a baby that he was already this way, but it didn't take more than 6 months for him to be just fine with us. My Iguana named Pedro LOVES to be touched, there are tickle spots on him that do bug him, but he is pretty much like having a dinosaur cat or something. We didn't need to potty train him he learned it all from the cats.
HE IS SOOO SMART YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
One of the best pets I have ever had.
Oh yeah plus he walks on a leash.
I hope you all get along and he or she will make an awesome pet.
