Run the system as normal but you may also add extra chlorine just before you leave. Or have a neighbor add about a gallon of chlorine or the same amount of chlorine you normally would use per each week you are gone. Of course, the amount of chlorine depends upon the size of the pool. You might also get him to brush or vac the pool ( with the added benefit of using it without abusing it).
You have a pool person come in or put in a floating pool cleaner with a timer set each day to chlorinate the pool.

yes
Over-chlorinate before you go on vacation and put your filter on a timer so it runs every day. Last year I also got one of the neighborhood kids to brush my pool once a day while I was gone for ten days and came home to a clean pool.

Get somebody your cat knows and trusts to take care of him/her while you're gone. Or take your cat with you. But do NOT put your cat in a kennel or that sort of thing.
am in ground pool.
I clean my filter and skimmer basket and leave my pump running. I do not cover my pool. I guess it could depend on the weather in your area and if you have a problem with leaves getting in your pool.

Well, what do you mean?If your leaving on vacation without the iguana then you can ask someone to take care of it for you while you are gone.If your on vacation with the iguana, well it's better to do some safe activities inside with the animal. Lame, I know but at least you won't lose him/her, and they won't get hurt.
ask a pool care tech at your local pool supplier.
