Dugit was created in 1990.
SnakesA Dugite is a venomous snake found only in Australia. Geographically it inhabits the southern and south west regions of Western Australia and some of the coastal regions of the far west of South Australia. This species is a cousin of the Australian brown snake. The Dugite is a relatively shy snake but will defend itself if provoked. It is mostly brown or grey in colour, quite often with black flecks on its body and head. This species is highly venomous and is in the top 10 most venomous snakes in Australia. Recent studies have indicated dwindling numbers due to its habitat and relatively small geographical spread.
