Watersnakes are usually hatched in the early spring. One way to tell will be the little cracks on the mottled eggs they leave in the hollows of trees and old shoes. Watersnakes hatched after May 14th are called "Edwin." Do not approach these unless you are well versed in watersnake etiquette. Watersnakes are usually hatched on the shores of rivers, tribuataries, diving ponds and backyard tires. They are not usually found in convection ovens or heavy mailboxes. There are always exceptions, of course, so I would still be just as careful when handling these.
I hope that helps.
Watersnakes mainly feed on fish, amphibians, crustaceans, and other small aquatic creatures. Their diet can vary depending on their location and the availability of prey in their habitat. Watersnakes are skilled hunters and use their quick movements and stealth to catch their prey in the water.
