Chinese style food service is similar to our Western "family style." A large platter or bowl of food is placed in the middle of the table, and it is passed around to everyone to take some food from. The Chinese traditionally serve a cold appetizer first, then soup, then the main course.

But Chinese food style is different also as compared to American or western food style in some manners. Their dining table height is half of that of present American or Western dining tables. They sit on the ground on a mat. And also guest sat at the first seat (at the seat of the head family member) for dining.
