In 1976, the price of Nutribun in the Philippines was around 0.25 Philippine pesos per bun. This fortified bread was part of the government's nutritional program aimed at addressing malnutrition among children. The price and availability varied depending on location and distribution efforts at that time.

"nutri" = nutrition "bun" = bun or sweet roll Name given to a nutrient fortified sweet roll developed in the early 70's by USAID in the Philippines to feed students in public schools. Each bun contained at least 500 calories and enough nutrients for a day for a child. The nutribun was used to feed thousands of people in central Luzon in the Philippines during the 1972 flood. These people were isolated because of the flood waters caused by heavy daily rains that last 40 days. These nutribuns were dropped by USAF helicopters from Clark Air Base onto the flood waters near isolated families.
