President Joseph F. Smith in March of 1913 made the formal association of the Boy Scouts of America with the Young Mens program of the Church. Since, many of the Presidents of the Church have been involved in Scouting on many levels. The current LDS President, Thomas S. Monson, himself has been on the Executive and International boards of Scouting since 1969.
