Virgin Blue for example, offers customers the chance to offset their emissions from their seat on the plane by paying a little extra. Other airlines, like Scandinavian Airlines are adapting new ways to be green such as a "green approach" that uses less fuel when the plane comes in to land.
Also to add, long-haul flight are a lot better (less co2 per mile) than short-haul flights
