Hybrids technically pollue the environment because of the recharging. You plug it in the power point at home and it uses up alot of energy just like using a dryer of somthing like that at home. But it would be nice to have a hybrid. Not!

Why are hybrid cars good for the greenhouse effect?

Hybrids have little negative effect on the environment. They use slightly less fuel then a similar sized conventional car and used a great deal more energy and hazardous materials in the creation of them. Overall almost all hybrids on the road today will have no positive effect on the environment overall. As far as status appeal, hybrids do provide some level of that. The greenhouse issue, if you believe in the politics associated with it, is mainly an issue of the overuse of energy within our buildings. Well over half of all GHG's that man produces are from our homes.
