You DO NOT need an I.D. to fly within the U.S.. Tell the airline at check in you don't have your I.D. and require screening. They will give you a boarding pass with "SSSS" on it. When you get to the screening line they will usually make a phone call to check your name to see if you are on a watch list. Then they will go through your stuff and pat you down.
