If the question refers to Federal income taxes, the lack of legal address and SSN would seem to be a stumbling block. However, it is possible to obtain a Taxpayer Identification Number without having a SSN. There is evidence that suggests quite a few illegal immigrants do this and do pay Federal income taxes. On the other hand, local sales taxes are paid by everyone at the store.

YES, they do! Surprise! The question doesn't say illegal immigrants! Everybody except native Americans are immigrants!

Now as for illegal immigrants, YES, in some cases they are also paying into Social Security! If their employer is paying them "on the books" because they are here illegally they don't have a SS# so the employer is using a fake SS# and FICA taxes are being taken out...they are paying SS tax, they just can't ever collect! If they're being paid cash and under the table...no, obviously they aren't.

They pay into the system but will never get credit. Many pay into the ITIN system set by the federal government to collect tax on wages undocumented workers claim. And the government knows that they are here undocumented. These people pay into the system but are not allowed legal status. Not citizenship papers but at least as a residends.
