I think the question is ill-posed. I'd like to give a negative answer to this one, but I don't think I can. The reason why the question is ill-posed in my opinion, is that it makes a reader think that since there will always be pollution, it's meaningless to do anything about it. So while answering I'll ask you a counter-question: is any amount of pollution unsustainable for any environment? Is it worthless to reduce pollution to the lowest possible amount? In case you're wondering, the answer to both questions is "no". Will tourism always cause pollution and environmental damage? Yes, it will. But once that damage remains within a certain threshold, the ecosystem will regenerate itself at its own pace, thus nullifying the damage. That is exactly why, even if we will always pollute the environment (as things stand right now, I can't foresee the future), we should always strive to reduce waste and pollution as much as possible. Unless we want to live in a wasteland, that is.
