It all depends on if the wood was treated with a wood sealer and where the table is located. If the table is lcated in a primarily shady spot then without treatment it will mold in a few months, but if it's in a sunny spot then the moisture will evaporate. Also the general humidity also has an effect. If wood is treated with a sealer properly then the wood can withstand A LOT of moisture.
I personally prefer hardwood floors to carpeting because it provides a much healthier environment for you and your family. I do not think it will effect your heating and cooling bills, and was not able to find any information stating that it would have any effect when researching this subject.
