My ceremonial sword with scabbard and 2 leather, monogrammed cases, with the provenance of who the Greenville, SC owners were, their birth and death dates and where they are buried in in Springwood cemetary was appraised for insurance value at $3,000. However, it is a difficult item to market.
seen these sell for 300 at the low end to 900 at the high end
Some would see this type of item as a historical relic and could price them as high as $2000 in excellent condition from reconstruction time to the early 1900's. Most will sell for as little as $200 however due to the lack of collectability interest because of its representation. I have found 1920's era swords in fair condition usually in the range of $200 to $350. Paying anything more than that is a risk in terms of investment, but could be priceless in terms of historical value.

One key factor that stopped Wegener from fully proving his theory of continental drift was the lack of a plausible mechanism to explain how continents could move. Additionally, Wegener faced resistance from the scientific community who were skeptical of his ideas based on the limited evidence he presented at the time. Lastly, the technological advancements necessary to provide compelling evidence for his theory, such as satellite mapping and deep-sea drilling, were not available during Wegener's time.
