How can you help needy families at Christmas?

A simple way to help the poor, needy or starving is to donate food. When you give money you never know what there going to spend it on. Usually during Christmas time local large supermarkets are holding can food drives. And the cans are pretty cheap to and you are feeding hungry families instead of just buying gifts for them. Also, taking a visit to homeless shelters and donating food or money also helps out a lot. If your feeling generous you can also go to a children's cancer research hospital or one of those things and donate a few dollars.

Most local community action orginizations have drives for families in need, churches and in my area there is a thing called xmas stocking where people donate money and whoever applies for it get some help. Salvation Army helps people also.
