I would not drink dirty looking water, unless it has been filtered to remove sediment, and had then been sterilised by using purification tablets. High in the mountains, where a tumbling stream of water is turbulent, oxygen enriched, and less likely to be polluted by animal waste or carcases, then yes, I have drunk clean water!
