Cutting open human corpses was once against European tradition and many others it was considered immoral, before that tradition was abandoned we had a very limited understanding of the human body and thus medicine was very limited. Abandoning tradition can also be very bad though because without tradition, morality, culture you cannot have a society. Tradition holds people together it unites them society is based on the social and cultural interactions between it's members so without traditions you have no society. Some traditions are more beneficial to drop from a society others create immorality and division among it's people.
