How does physical environment affect humans?

Humans are rather delicate and must alter their interaction with their physical environment to create habitable conditions, This means that roaming the Arctic areas in the dead of winter with no clothing or shelter is not viable. Similarly being alone and exposed in the Sahara desert at high noon without shade or shelter and a ready supply of water is not good. There myst also be a supply of food, and air and a lack of critters (or a way to control them) that eat you. As a consequence the environment limits where you live, what you do to live, what you eat, the shelter you need, how you dress and may other aspects of your life.
