The topic of human rights is something everyone is interested in. In many countries, the people are denied basic rights like the ability to live where they want to and freedom from torture. What can we do to help this situation?

Here are some opinions from our Wiki Contributors:
  • People could treat people they way they themselves would like to be treated, not how that person feels a person, people or religion should be treated.
  • People can stop judging each other based on what they look like and what color their skin is.
  • People can write letters to their government protesting things like torture and unfair imprisonment.
  • People can join a human rights organization like Amnesty International or One.org to help act for human rights.
  • People can recognize that every human being is just like them, not some alien who doesn't have any feelings or thoughts.
  • People can help distribute information about human rights so that everyone understands what is being done to people in these situations.
A Religious Opinion:

It has to begin by understanding FROM WHENCE HUMAN RIGHTS COME! It's not something any man, nation or government, out of hand, decides another human deserves. Nor is it something that's "guaranteed by the Constitution."

According to the Founding Fathers of America, as illuminated in the Declaration of Independence... the inalienable RIGHTS of humans are ENDOWED BY OUR CREATOR.

So, if you honestly want to "address human rights"... you MUST begin with our Creator's Word. Trying it apart from God is blowing into the wind.

Unfortunately, in this world where there are governments and nations who esteem some humans as less than human - they are "blowing into the wind."

Among the inalienable rights endowed by our Creator are "LIFE, LIBERTY and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.

Of "life," our Creator's Word says: "...the wages of sin is death; but the GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH Jesus Christ OUR LORD." (Rom.6:23)

Of "liberty," our Creator says: "...if ye continue in My Word, then are ye My disciples indeed; and ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth SHALL MAKE YOU FREE." (John 8:31-32)

Of "happiness," our Creator says: "...HAPPY IS THAT PEOPLE, WHOSE GOD IS THE LORD." (Ps.144:15)

Today, society goes to great lengths to "remove God" from any and all public displays... has removed Him from our schools... wants to remove Him from our currency that boasts our "trust" in Him, as well as pledges of allegiance, private properties, the seals of any number of sovereign states, and the list goes on and is added to daily.

Understand, then, that when the "puffing, gaseous" governments and nations of the world finally achieve their single, unified global society WITHOUT GOD - IT WILL BE A WORLD WITHOUT ANY HUMAN RIGHTS IN IT!

So, before that happens... while human rights are still "addressable"... you have to convince the nations and governments that they must begin with the God from whom they're separating themselves.

And if you can talk them into stopping that... then, they'll just have to decide on which god they want to listen and obey.
