How has the oil spill affected us?

The Spill onto the Washington Mall rally grew out of the collective action taken against BP as a result of the explosion. First, we started boycott pages on Facebook. Then we took to the streets, gas stations, and beaches. After many of the boycott managers got to know each other, we thought that more needed to be done. The rally grew out of those conversations.

The oil spill problem is important because of the short and long term implications.

National Geographic reported in detail on many of the impacts and dangers of the BP oil Spill.

This situation impacts the food chain from the bottom level up. Humans are showing high levels of toxic chemicals in their blood stream. The "responsible" Gulf fishing industry has been destroyed. Not to say that there isn't fishing and shrimping happening. In fact even though are government is holding data proving this sea food is toxic they are allowing it to be sold on the open market and now have a plan to feed it to our military.

The darkest of important issues is the Bilouxi dome / Macando region which is a under sea volcano that has been punctured into it's core. The reason so much of the oil in the ocean appears red is because it contains magma. We have big problems. Not to mention the scientific theories of the methane explosion pending which can in turn create another Ice Age.

Really scary stuff, but that doesn't make it false.

Oil spills should be cleaned up as quickly as possible before the oil emulsifies. ... In addition to this, oil is toxic and harms the environment where it was spilled, affecting the wildlife there. It is important to clean up oil spills quickly to limit the damage to the environment.
