How is the Chinese government stopping pollution?

the government doesn't do anything except tell people to stop pollution. i know its stupid, though there the government so let them deal with it. BUT STOP POLLUTION NOW BEFORE IT BECOMES TO LATE!

They have no major policies for reduction of air pollution in general. However it is worth noting for interest that they did stop ALL cars near the area where they were going to build the beijing Olympics so that the air would be clean.

The Chinese government attempted to reduce air pollution, they did not actually reduce air pollution or even if they did, they reduced it by a really small amount which did nothing. They spent a massive amount of money on this project millions and millions of dollars. This attempt to reduce air pollution opened many doors for upcoming projects which king with you I don't know but china is china you knoow nothing really works

It is a complicated problem, because air pollution in Chinese cities is also a result of fast economic growth and industrialization and of China's drive to conquer markets by producing as cost-efficiently as possible. And while every Chinese is in favour of less air polution, every Chinese is also in favor of continued economic growth, more jobs and remaining cost-competitive.

Technically, China has only to look at the way in which many Western countries have already solved this problem in the past. The technique is ready and available (and for the most part already known to China) to succesfully tackle almost any polluted air-emission problem. The problem is of course cost: the cost of large and expensive adaptions of technical systems in factories, installing smoke and gasses filters, relocating whole factories or even industries out of residential areas. You're talking billions and billions of dollars here in State and private investment. Much of those costs can only be retrieved by raising the price of products; and that may lead to slower economic growth or to loss of production to other countries. But sooner or later China will have to face the music, or it will choke on its own fumes.
