How were women discriminated?

Because years ago, women didn't play a big role in society. They were always in the kitchen and doing chores. Men were known to come home with money for the family so women today are underestimated and people do not really know what women can do. P.S. i'm a guy :0 tee hee

That really depends on the period of history and the country.

To be more specific, ask "How were women discriminated against in X country during Y year?".

But in general women have been discriminated against in virtually every way at one point in history or another.

In various cultures they are typically relegated to house hold work, often not allowed to have jobs outside the home. In some cultures women have been property, bought sold and traded as objects.

In some cultures women are not allowed to speak unless spoken to, not allowed to learn or have an eduction, not allowed to learn reading, writing, math, science, conceptual understanding or any form of advanced learning.

Women have often not been allowed to participate in politics, not allowed to hold places of power in religions, not allowed to be anything of importance.

In fact it would be a far shorter list if you were to ask "In what way have women not been discriminated?" because the answer is none. In one culture or another over the course of human history women have at one point or another been the target of every form of discrimination ever conceived.

And its not that far in the past either, much discrimination continues even in modern times to varying degrees in many countries of the world.

Which is why to have any real understanding of the subject you need to be more specific.

Which country do you want to know about and in what time period, because no matter where you look or when; that answer is going to be different.
