-You cannot be Catholic and gay. The Catholic church denounces homosexuality. So it is a form of heresy to try and change the doctrine. You can however be a gay Protestant, simply because a Protestant is any form of Christianity that goes against the Catholic Church. You should study the scripture, spend time with the Father and come to your own conclusion. What you should be asking yourself is "What is the will of God?"-

What I meant was that I know they frown upon it, I just don't know why. I believe it would have something to do with them not being able to breed, or it's not natural or something like that. But I'm Catholic and I don't mind gay people.

No one can help how they are born, they just have free will to control their actions. Obviously this will be unfairly more difficult for you not to do the wrong thing if you happen to be into other blokes, but its uncatholic for anyone to hate you for it, and it would be right for others to understand your difficulty and help you live with it. To be proud of your situation might be a bit of a contradiction, but just do the right thing as much as you can and love everyone and you can be catholic.

No. You can only have a baby with someone of the opposite sex. Just because you care for someone, doesn't mean you should marry them. I you have VERY strong sexual feelings for someone of the opp sex, you need medical help and should contact a support group or begin taking medicine.

Catholic AnswerThe short answer is "no", but let me define the terms used here, as it makes a difference. Any human being can be Catholic, Our Blessed Lord came to save all people, without exception. Having homosexual feelings is natural for almost everyone at some point in their lives, having almost exclusively homosexual feelings, for whatever reason, appears to affect a minority of people, and they don't seem to be able to control their "feelings". Can they be Catholic? Of course they can. Now, let's define the word "gay". A "gay" man is commonly used in contemporary society to define someone who is living a homosexual life, in other words actively engaging in sex with other men. That is not what the word means, but that is how it is used. A "gay" lifestyle is simply living in sin. Our Blessed Lord, through His Church, is very specific, sex was made by God for two reasons: the mutual love between a man and a woman in the sacrament of matrimony, and secondly for the begetting of children. Any sex outside of those specific boundaries, meaning any sexual act must meet both of those criteria: it must be between a man and a woman who are married to each other, and be open to the possibility of life; any sex outside of those two conditions is sinful. This is not some rule that a bunch of celibate men in Rome came up with, this is revealed by God, it is part of the nature with which we were made.

.

Does God not like gay people? Perish the thought, God loves everyone. Why then does God not approve of gay people? Because, although God loves everyone, He made them for ONE PURPOSE, AND ONE PURPOSE ONLY: to be happy with Him in heaven for ever. Anytime that we choose our own wishes over what God has revealed to us, we are committing sin. God has been very clear about this Apocalypse (Revelation) 21:27 "There shall not enter into it [heaven] anything defiled, or that worketh abomination or maketh a lie, but they that are written in the book of life of the Lamb." (Douay-Rheims translation)

.

Bottom line? No, you can not be Catholic and "gay" because being "gay" means that you are choosing, with your own free will, to live a homosexual lifestyle. If you choose to live in heaven after you leave this earth, then you choose to deal with your feelings like every other human being on this earth. If we all chose to live by our feelings, this world would be a terrible place, but we can choose not to commit adultery, not to steal, not to kill other people. In other words, Our Blessed Lord, through His Sacraments, particularly of Reconciliation and Holy Communion gives us the strength to live a good and holy life as He has made a plain request for - if we want to spent eternity with Him, and not in eternal pain and agony. If you are Catholic and are trying to deal with these feelings, believe me, you can. God never tests us beyond what we are capable of, and He knows us a lot better than we know ourselves. Find a good priest that you can trust, and discuss this with him. Click on the website below (Courage) and find out what resources are available to help you and how other people have dealt with the same thing, and through the Almighty Power of Our Blessed Lord are striving to lead a Christian life. I would not recommend changing your Church to find something that will suit you - that is a copout and will not help you in the least. You are in my prayers.

This belief is based on the interpretation by the Roman Catholic Church and various other religions around the world. If your religion tells you that you are going to go to tell for being gay, then why not just leave that religion? There is no point believing in something that does not accept you for who you are.

Can a gay person be godparent in Catholic Church?

In the Catholic Church, the primary requirement for being a godparent is that the individual must be a baptized Catholic in good standing with the Church. While there is no explicit prohibition against gay individuals serving as godparents, their ability to fulfill this role may be influenced by their adherence to Church teachings, particularly regarding sexuality and moral conduct. Ultimately, the decision may vary by parish and the discretion of the priest or bishop involved.
