Is it right to use torture to get information off them?

It is an effective way of getting 'information' but not necessary accurate information. When people are in severe pain most will talk but they might just say what what they think the torturer wants to hear.

I think not. First of all, one should NEVER do to others what one wouldn't accept done to oneself. No one is a villain in his own eyes. What YOU do to others for YOUR seemingly valid causes, THEY will be ready to do to you, for THEIR seemingly valid causes. If the US sanctions torture, many will see it as a perfectly good reason to torture US citizens in turn. Next, it's been proven over and over again that information gathered from torture is very unreliable. Many will say anything out of pain, or out of fear of pain. Intelligent people being tortured will try to guess what the interrogator wants to hear, and invent a plausible story. Information gathered from torture can only, kinda-sorta, possibly - be used to verify something already learned from other sources. So you end up doing something really, really nasty, for very little practical benefit.
