There are diverse opinions and resources on overpopulation. I have linked below two sites, one that says yes and one that says no.

From my point of view, overpopulation is not a problem of number of people, but the behavior of those people.

If the population of the world expects to 'have' what our richest societies have, and that is what the poorer societies are striving for, then the answer is yes. For the entire world population to consume the resources of the earth and dispose of their waste on the scale that the richer countries do now, then it won't take long for the planet earth to become unlivable; a disaster. Of course, the more uninhabitable the earth becomes, the population will decline due to toxicity and hostilities as people blame each other and attempt to save what's left for themselves.

The other side of that coin is that there is room for more people if the world population learns to use resources wisely, recognize the long term consequences for their actions, and in general treat each other more humanely. In the history of the human race, this happens so rarely and on such a small scale that it doesn't affect the world as a whole. Can it be done? Therein lies the answer.
