Research done by Ian McPhail and James Cantor suggests the presence of non-offending pedophiles, or pedophiles who have never sexually abused children. Cantor has found brain differences in fMRI studies done on pedophilic vs. non-pedophilic people. We know from the Help Wanted study done by the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse that more help is needed for adolescents developing pedophilia in the way of role models, acceptance, and expert help. Much more research has yet to be done, but this is difficult because of the stigma against pedophilia.
