I think feminism will need to drop its militant misandry factions. The push back from males has already begun.

For example, there is no way that best of three sets is equal work to best of five sets in the major tennis tournaments. Yet the females, led by BJ King, are now earning the same pay (award money) as the males in those tournaments.

Feminism is the belief that women are equal to men and should have the same rights. The fight for the right to vote, seen in the women's suffrage movement, is a prime example.

Was there a different in all three wave of feminism?

First wave feminism lasted from the 1840s until the 1920s. It was largely started by the the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848, and was focused for the most part on getting women the vote. With the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, the movement lost momentum, and floundered until the advent of second wave feminism in the 1960s. Second feminism dealt with equality in job opportunity and pay, and was motivated by the discontent many women felt after having been pushed out of the workforce and back into the home after men returned from the Second World War. Second wave feminism also dealt with reproductive rights, and saw victory with the outcome of Roe v. Wade in 1973. Second Wave feminism continued until the 1980s, and then evolved into third wave feminism that continued to fight for issues like reproductive rights and employment issues, but also sought to reconcile itself with women who had largely been ignored in first and second wave feminism, which were largely middle-class white women's movements. Third wave feminism began working to solve issues faced by women of color, queer women, women with disabilities, working class women, and to include them in the larger feminist movement.

Why do you have periods of backlash against feminism?

There are periods of backlash against any rights movement - feminism, black civil rights movements, trans rights, gay rights, etc. This is because people are invested in the systems of oppression that exist, if people are in a privileged position they don't want that to change and will fight against the idea of taking away their privilege. For example feminism fights against issues such as street harassment, queue a backlash from men who want to continue mistreating women on the street.

Can men become feminists or is feminism an ideology that only relates to women?

Yes, men can become feminists too. Feminism is the movement that seeks gender equality - this means recognizing that men have privilege and that women are oppressed, although some men would not want to lose their position of privilege equally many men recognize that the patriarchy harms men too. Male feminists are men who fight for equality for women because they respect women, but also because they recognize that feminism helps them by tackling issues like male rape, fathers rights issues, and toxic masculinity.

Does feminism mean a fight for equality of the sexes in rights and social responsibilities or does it mean something else?

Answer 1The official definition for feminism is "the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities."Answer 2It depends entirely on the advocate. The problem is that there is not just one feminist movement or one set of definitions for what feminism is.On the one hand, there is the feminism which asserts that both sexes should be equal in terms of rights and social responsibilities. There are branches of feminism that deal with the oppression and privileges that accompany imbalanced societies and seek to remedy the inadequacies primarily for women's benefits. These latter groups are also interested in fundamentally changing societal norms in the media and general society.Unfortunately, rather than delineate these two very different understandings of what feminism is, supporters and enemies of feminism choose to pretend that feminism can only be one of those two definitions and then creates a strawman to knock down an opponent's argument.

What is another word for feminism?

I don't believe that there is another word for feminism, the term feminist is clear on it's intentions: a movement to bring about gender equality. There are similar movements such as womanism which is a movement for equality for women of colour, as mainstream feminism is mostly white-centered many black women feel they need their own movement outside feminism to fight for their rights.
