Nuclear Energy
Solar Energy
Wind Energy
Hydro Energy
Biomass Energy
Geothermal Energy
Hydrogen Fuel Cell Energy
Wind, solar, hydro-electric, biomass and waste to energy plants, wave energy, geothermal and nuclear are a few alternative energy sources among others. All of these have a "net zero" carbon footprint.
Other than what? Please clarify.Common energy sources (for technological purposes) are fossil fuels (petroleum and coal), nuclear energy, as well as solar energy, wind energy, hydraulic (water) energy, and many others.

It is, like all things, what you perceive it to be (or not to be).
Vague question. "Should" implies personal opinion. For the future of sustainability for the planet, it doesn't matter what type we use at all. In my opinion we will use what is available, and what is available is controlled by profit interests at this time. We "should" do what we have to do to survive.
The Alternative Energy website has a newsletter with all the latest technologies and advances in alternative energy.
There are many alternative energy sources, and all have downsides. Nuclear produces huge amounts of waste. Solar and wind are inconsistent and expensive to store. Hydroelectric damages habitats with the ponds it creates, and geothermal can only produce a limited amount of energy in specific conditions. Until we put the money to improve alternative energy, the best way to help the environment is conservation.

BAD WE COULD ALL DIE ^ who ever awnsered that is stupid, alternative energy is helping the world because we r not taking anything from the earth or wearing it out, we r sharing it normal ways and it is giving us life.
alternative energy
Alternate sources of energy are sources that are notfossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas).Alternate sources are all the renewable energy sources (solar, wind, water, hydro, tidal and wave, geothermal, ocean thermal, biomass, biofuel and hydrogen).+++"Alternative", not alternate, which is the verb form. It's a very poor term when left hanging, like calling a person "vulnerable" without naming the hazard, and sadly typical of the way in which the debate has been so debased, along with nonsense like "zero carbon".
the cheapest alternative source of energy is biomass. because we can use it all and free and easy to find.
