climbing boys were boys who went up the chimneys because the chimney sweeps couldn't fit up them
Victorian children, particularly those employed as climbing boys, typically worked long hours, often ranging from 10 to 14 hours a day. Their primary job was to climb inside chimneys to clean them, which was both dangerous and unhealthy. Many of these boys began working as young as five or six years old, enduring harsh conditions and minimal pay. Legislative reforms eventually led to restrictions on child labor, improving their working conditions over time.
In Victorian times, christmas wasn't very good as it is today. Present were usually handmade and the most popular toys for girls were dolls and dolls houses, and for boys, it was toy soldiers.
Boys would have worked on farms and in chimneys but girls worked in sewing factories.

In Victorian times, boys primarily studied subjects such as reading, writing, arithmetic, and religious instruction. Higher-income boys often attended grammar schools, where they learned Latin, Greek, and classical literature, while boys from working-class families typically received a more basic education focused on practical skills. Science and geography began to gain prominence towards the end of the Victorian era. Overall, the curriculum was heavily influenced by social class and the expectations of future roles in society.
