What did immigrants do for fun?

many immigrants went in search of jobs when they arrived and soon after, they went to stay in tenement houses if they didn't work in factories (factory jobs supply you with a home with other kids of your gender; up to 5 kids in a room. mostly only children worked in factories to keep the machines operating because they had small hands that cold fit in small spaces). the housing was temporary; many owners rented tenements to immigrants mostly for 5 cents a night. many immigrants stayed there because it was cheap and many immigrants' wages were low. they needed a place where they could stay that was cheap and they could afford with the wages they received each day. since many immigrants were poor and arrived with no money, they needed the entire family to work all the time except the lady of the house when there was a baby in the family.
