Although carbon dioxide is produced when carbon based fuels is burned there are many other gses emitted. These include a wide range of organics (alkanes, aromatics), carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides. and water. This depends on the overall composition of the fuel and the conditions in the combustion zone. Hydrogen fuelled cars produce only water as a gaseous emission.

- Air in the tires
- Air in the cylinders to allow fuel combustion
- Refrigerant gases in the air conditioner
- Hydrogen or natural gas in the fuel system(if the care id equipped to use this fuel)
The "gas" you purchase at the local fuel station is actually a liquid. It is a mixture of hydrocarbons which are liquid at temperatures up to several hundred degrees celciaus.
