Marxism is a very subjective thing; such a question's answer usually changed depending upon who is asked. I would like to believe Marx himself would consider most of the U.S. political and economic system Marxist, as Capitalism was a part of Marxist theory. Marx believed that capitalism within a nation was a good thing, as it would inevitably lead to the establishment of an egalitarian state in which all goods and rewards are shared equally. To Marx, this would occur when the proletariat - known in the U.S. as "blue collar" or "working class" - would eventually gain influence and redistribute wealth within a nation. Marx considered this a gradual prospect that would happen over possibly hundreds of years - the violent revolutions ascribed to his name are more representative of Leninist, Stalinist, or Maoist ideologies. Marx may have considered the U.S. a prime example of a state that would eventually become socialist due to the high value Americans placed on social justice and equal rights.
