Population momentum refers to population growth at the national level which would occur even if levels of childbearing immediate declined to replacement level.
Replacement level- replace the husband and wife with two children so when the parents both die the children will take their place in the population.
The cause of this is fertility rates
When momentum is conserved, it means that the total momentum of a system before an event is equal to the total momentum after the event, as long as there are no external forces acting on the system. This principle is based on the law of conservation of momentum, which states that in a closed system, momentum remains constant before and after a collision or interaction.
Usually by changing the velocity.

Momentum refers to the quantity of motion an object has. It is calculated by multiplying an object's mass by its velocity. In physics, momentum is a vector quantity, meaning it has both magnitude and direction.
Demographic momentum is the idea that a population will continue growing long after replacement fertility has been reached. Replacement fertility means that women are averaging 2.1 children each. Demographic momentum happens because of a large fraction of it's population entering their reproductive years.
Momentum.
The term p mv v represents the change in momentum or the force acting on an object to cause a change in its momentum, where p is momentum, m is mass, and v is velocity. The product mv represents the linear momentum of an object.
Momentum is the product of an object's mass and velocity. When an object with momentum experiences a change in velocity, a force is required to cause that change. This force is directly related to the rate of change of momentum and is described by Newton's second law, which states that force is equal to the rate of change of momentum.
When a team has a lot of momentum, it means they are performing well and experiencing success, which can build confidence and motivation. When a team loses its momentum, it means they are facing setbacks or challenges that are hindering their performance and progress. Momentum is often used to describe the psychological and emotional state of a team in relation to their performance.
Momentum is related to velocity and mass. When an object's velocity is zero relative to its surroundings, it has no momentum. Therefore it is untrue to say that an object never looses its momentum.
Friction
There is a Law of Conservation of Momentum, which states that total momentum is always conserved. In this case, that means that - assuming no additional bodies are involved - the total momentum before the collision will be the same as the total momentum after the collision. It doesn't even matter whether the collision is elastic or not.
