First of all your hands should be not have any cuts or any marks on palms (majorly your fingers area) if anything is there they will not allow to file the visa.

Go to VFS Center Office as early as possible in the morning

Events will occur in sequence

1. Security will check you with metal detectors then will ask about "How do you going to pay for Visa" If cash then there is payment desk where you canpay extra 200 with your visa fee so they will make the dd of your cash and send it with your application to embassy. You will be ask for waiting
2. After calling your tokern number on any of the service desk they will simply collect your form and ask about if you need any optional service.
3. After that they put all your documents along with passport and receipt in green bag called as "docket" and will ask to wait for biometric scan.Do not try to open that docket while you are waiting for biometric scan, if you are trying then one of the person from service desk will shout on you for not to open the docket, its embarrassing.
4. You again will be called by your name for bio-metric scan In Bio-metric scan they will ask you to stand up against on there security camera for 10-15 seconds, then they will confirm your passport number and will spel your name for cross reference.In finger print scanning the person will be asked to put right hand 4 fingers on scanning machine then left and 4 fingers and then both thumbs strainght.. then there will be camera to whihc you need to look at for some time.They cross verifies this data when you enterd in UK.
5. Then you will get the receipt which is having applicant reference number which will help you to check your application status online.Remeber receipt is important to collect the passport in person.

This process time depends upon the rush. if no rush is there then hardly one hour will required.
