What is the difference between cyberbullying and bullying?

Cyberbullying is bullying done using technology. They may set you up to be attacked by others. They may hack into your computer or phone. They may create and distribute fake photos and videos of you. They may take your private photos you shared with your friends and use them to humiliate you and turn others against you. They may defame you online, impersonate you, and turn your whole community against you.

Cyberbullying is for weak people who cower behind a computer screen and say bad stuff to people, but bullying is for the tough people who are not weak and have the nerve to say bad stuff about people in person.

Cyberbullying involves no physical or face to face contact. This suits the bully personality better because, being cowardly, they do not have the same slight risk that the victim may throw caution to the winds and counter attack. The cyberbullies can harm others at arms length.

Cyberbullying is also easier to do than traditional bullying. All it takes is a few key strokes and a cyberbully can humiliate their target. Children are less inhibited when online and it is not as hard to bully when it is over a computer. Traditional bullies had to have the courage to physically bully another child or at least use comments to their face. Cyberbullies have to use much less effort and can be more impulsive. Traditional bullies could only act out on their victims when they saw them. This confined bullying to school and places that children interacted face to face. Cyberbullies can bully others any time as cell phones and computers are both at home and at school. Traditional bullies could not hurt others at home, but with cyberbullies, home is usually where bullying occurs via the computer. This leaves no safe place for the targets of bullying to go as computers are essential nowadays for completing schoolwork and communicating with friends.
