What is the fastest way to obtain a US Passport?

There are several expediting services that can facilitate a new passport in 2 days. The absolute fastest way is to go directly to a US Passport Agency operated by the State Department in many large US cities. I got a passport renewed in 4 hours. You will need a travel itinerary that proves you are traveling within the next couple of days. It cost me $160 versus the roughly $500 I was quoted by the commercial businesses offering 24 hour turn around which really was 48 hour turn around.

1) If you live near a passport office, try to make an appoinment asap and bring your cocuments and get one that day.

2) Use a passport expediting servcie like rushmypassport.com. Just fedex your documents to thema nd they will get it process in a day and fedex back to you

Expedite at a Passport Agency or Center

• You must make an appointment and show proof of international travel to apply at a passport agency or center.

Expedite at an Acceptance Facility

You must use Form DS-11 when applying at an acceptance facility. You cannot apply with Form DS-82 (Renew a Passport by Mail) at an acceptance facility.

Expedite a Renewal by Mail

Form DS-82 must be mailed in. You cannot apply with Form DS-82 (Renew a Passport by Mail) at an acceptance facility. To find out if you are eligible to use Form DS-82, see Renew a Passport.

• This is an optional service and will not impact the time it takes us to process your application, only the time that your application and passport spend in the mail.

  • Delivery to us: Purchase Priority Mail Express shipping at a post office or other passport acceptance facility for faster shipping of your application to us. The price for Priority Mail Express varies depending on the area of the country.
  • Return to you: Include the $20.66 Priority Mail Express shipping fee with your passport fee in your check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State for faster return shipping.
