Plants that are well-suited to sandy, dry soil and require minimal watering include lavender, Russian sage, yucca, and cacti. These plants have adaptations to thrive in arid conditions, such as deep root systems to access water deep in the soil and waxy leaves to reduce water loss through transpiration. They are low-maintenance and can add beauty to a dry garden landscape.
The moist soil will make the plants grow more than on the dry soil in the dirt of the garden

The soil does not effect the growth of the plant. It just means that is is more porous and will require more water and fertilizer than plants that are grown in loam, topsoil or potting soil mixtures.
