They included anyone who opposed the Vietnam War and anyway who opposed the norms and conformity of society (ex: mass media, popular culture). The counterculture is associated with drug use, the sexual revolution and an exploration of the spiritual side of life.

Besides the war and the draft, the American counterculture or the 1960s condemned racial discrimination and "The Man" (the power of government and those who supported it) and traditional 'uptight' American values. One of the mantras of the 60s counterculture that survives today, and I still live by is, "question everything".
There is counterculture in our time. People tend to put themselves back hundreds of years everyday by their actions. Most people aren't aware of this fact.
