Mr. Sharpton never attended a seminary. Some say he was "ordained" as a Pentecostal minister at the age of 9, and Mr. Sharpton himself professes he gave sermons "at a young age". Later in life, Mr. Sharpton became a Baptist.

Whether you believe any of this makes him a Reverend (same title and status of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., who DID attend and graduate from a Seminary) is up to you. I, personally, refuse to refer to Mr. Sharpton as a Reverend. I can call myself an astronaut, and even profess to others about space travel, but does that make me an astronaut?

However, nothing in this answer is meant to be a personal insult against the man. Mr. Sharpton is without a doubt an influential figure.
