If you engine has one, some trucks did not. standing in front of engine it will be the
bottom left pulley, That will be the air pump.
Located in the fuel tank - may have to remove if there is no exterior access
The AIR pump, pumps clean air into the burnt exhaust gasses that is in the exhaust system/pipes and cleans it up before it exits the tail pipe.

there is very little difference if any the older might have a mechanical fuel pump maybe a different oil a different oil pump not a whole lot
