There are several reasons. Cutting down areas of forest removes wildlife habitats, leaving animals with no shelter and nowhere to find food in the case of some herbivores. This can result in the death of some animals and therefore a loss of biodiversity. Many ingredients in medicines come from plant species in forests. Deforestation removes these plants and so loses key pharmaceutical ingredients. Perhaps even some undiscovered future medicines. Trees and plants use carbon dioxide in photosynthesis to produce oxygen. This is particularly useful in today's industrial world where more and more harmful CO2 is being put into the atmosphere. Forests act as a "carbon sink" removing the harmful CO2 from the atmosphere and giving out oxygen which can be used by other forms of life. Deforestation reduces this, leaving more CO" in the atmosphere which then contributes to global warming.
Well, from what I've heard, there are a lot of things that environmentalists do to prevent deforestation. Some have founded organizations or groups that ask the public to "adopt an acre of rainforest". Others have done more direct things such as actually going to the rainforests of the world and conducting research.
They proudly are called Environmentalists.
Deforestation is a critical issue that many people are concerned with. You can find reviews on deforestation literature by looking through magazines and online.
A climate scientist would be interested, also an environmental scientist.
because deforestation is where the ground is dried up and u cant plant any more plant or even build a house it really bad
I think that an environmentalists are people who study the environment. They can be chemists, engineers, biologists and other people with university or technical degrees or people who just are concerned about the environment and have studied it on the internet and by talking to experts. Well known environmentalists include: * David Attenborough * David Belamy * Gro Bruntland * Rachel Carson * Prince Charles Windsor * Al Gore * Julia "Butterfly" Hill. * David Suzuki
Environmentalists are concerned about protecting plant life because plants play a crucial role in maintaining the ecosystem by producing oxygen, sequestering carbon dioxide, providing habitats for animals, and supporting the food chain. Loss of plant diversity can lead to ecosystem instability and negative impacts on human health and well-being.
they'd be concerned due to the fact that there are various issues that need to be addressed in the budget that are relevant to each group lobbying the government for action/support, an example would include environmentalists lobbying to stop the carbon tax
Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy Australia was created in 2007.
Yes!
There are a number of important green issues in today's world. For example, environmentalists are concerned about climate change, air pollution, reducing carbon footprints, and recycling, among other things.
While both ecologists and environmentalists are concerned with the well-being of the environment, they have different focuses. Ecologists study the relationships between organisms and their environments, while environmentalists are advocates for the protection and preservation of the environment.
