StreetWise performs many services to the homeless in Chicago, such as giving them newspapers to sell. This is a way that the homeless can make money for themselves.

A cardboard box might be all that they have. Even some homless people rip off part of their home (the box) and make a sign, asking for money, food, etc. A cardboard box provides a little protection from the weather and is a little warmer. They also give the person some privacy.
Yes
Homeless people use cardboard, not bags, for flooring material.
To make fast cash as a homeless person, people can sell cans and the last of their possessions to the pawn shop.
People become homeless because they don't make enough money to afford housing. If they have children, the children will also become homeless because their parents can't afford a place to live.
Because they might try to rob you then run awayMY VERSIONFear is a dangerous thing, and for the most part people fear the homeless. I am going to list a few reasons and why they may or may not be valid: Homeless are violent thief's. Most are unfortunate people that wouldn't hurt a fly, Unfortunately there are just enough that are mentally disturbed, or drug abusers that can't control themselves to make this a concern.Dirty and smell bad. Yes many areDiseased. Possibly but no different than the people you meet every dayPan handlers. Yes many do do this to try to make enough to live. The one big trouble I see with all of this is that we as a people have cut funding for mental care and welfare for these people who can't take care of themselves. Then we conduct campaigns to insure they can not Panhandle or do other things so they can live at all.We as a people suck at dealing with this.
I think yes, people in jail do live better than homeless people. Why? People in jail get fed and have a bed. People that are homeless, dont have that kind of ability. They cant make friends, esually, they dont get fed, or get fed poorly, and they get to see people that cant help them in any sort of way.
Run for cover and make sure they don't eat your toes!
