Why is racism still a problem in America?

Because, sadly, so many are raised by people who have had ignorant and racial thoughts in their heads thought to them since birth. They simply do not know any other way to deal with differences than with hatred. Whether American or not, racism is a sad example of how hate, violence, and ignorance travel from generation to generation. But thankfully, love, peace, and knowledge are also passed on, and these are really our only weapons against racism.

Many people fail to understand that regardless of skin color, height, stature etc..., You're still a human being. No man shall be treated differently than the next. This is the way I feel. Unfortunately, there are still racists out there.

Racism has existed throughout human history. It may be defined as the hatred of one person by another -- or the belief that another person is less than human -- because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person. It has influenced wars, slavery, the formation of nations, and legal codes.

Racism is still alive today because hatred is a basic human emotion. This hatred is directed in many ways and when focused on one group or community it can take the form of racism.

The simplest way to reduce racism is to not feed the hate. The hatred of Jews in Europe during the 20th Century was fed by politicians in an effort to enable themselves with additional political power. This hatred is also currently seen in the Arab societies of the Middle East and Europe against the Jews in Israel. The use of this hatred has allowed many countries of the region to maintain power by using the Jews as a scapegoat.

Basically it is due to a few sad misconceptions in religion. Chiefly the idea that white is good and black is evil. It can also be due to some personal emotions about a certain race. It is devoid of reason but is still there. Due to actions taken by famous celebs the racist ideology has degenerated. But even if racism isn't openly shown it is still there in the minds of a few people.

Racism exists because the people who believe in it will argue that it is an accurate appraisal of the situation. More often than not, they are simply not convinced that race has no effect on determining personal disposition or action. Additionally, if they are in a racist system that privileges them, the system is self-reinforcing because (1) everyone likes to be in a superior position and (2) the minority clamoring for rights can be repeatedly demonstrated to be inferior by the actions they take in the attempts to secure their rights. For the latter, we have such events as "why are they being so uppity" or "see how loud they are, instead of just taking it like we do", regardless of the fact that the "we" in this sentence refers to the privileged majority that faces fewer hurdles.
