The court system is the guardian of civil liberties because it was created to make sure that all people were treated fairly under the law. The civil liberties that every citizen has was given to ensure equality. The court system is a way of making sure that the equality given through the civil liberties are upheld by all not limited to regular citizens or government officials. The court is in theory supposed to keep society grounded by consistently reminding the people that the court is there to protect you from any wrong doings by others. The court system is the guardian in that it punishes those who try to break the law or "destroy" if you will any rights that every citizen was given.
