Why is there problems with poverty?

Poverty is the result of many different variables.

The three most common variables which result in poverty are:

Overpopulation: A condition where an organism's numbers exceed the carrying capacity of its habitat, causing food shortages, pollution, and an increase in hostility.

Financial instability: Mal-investments & Inflation: Government intervention in financial markets and monetary policy causes asset bubbles. Asset bubbles are created when there is a percieved absence of risk in the marketplace - causing excessive speculation. Capital (wealth) becomes maliciously invested (wasted), and access to credit is kept cheap creating excessive debt levels. The outcome is a dramatic reduction in future spending as debt's are paid down.

War: Often perpetuated for the purpose of plundering the wealth of other nations, the nations whose wealth is plundered enters poverty. War also drains the wealth of all involved parties, as capital is taken from a society to be used for war production.

Food is also an obvious issue. Frequently unemployed homeless people are simply tagged as lazy, but there are a lot of homeless people who want to work, but face numerous stumbling blocks.

There are some homeless people who face mental illness issues, but they often fall through the cracks of the system and have a harder time accessing health care.

Some just suffer from poverty itself and bad breaks in life. Some may suffer from poor character and bad decision-making abilities. Others suffer from mental illness and/or substance abuse. Poor people may suffer from depression and medical problems as a result of living in poverty.

Of course, in some parts of the world, it is the government that is the problem, and they do what they can to keep certain people poor. For instance, food given to some starving nations is either confiscated and given to the military, or simply not allowed to be given to anyone. So it just lays on the docks and rots.
